The road to prison is taken by main defendant for the murder of Lyggeridis and the action of the criminal organization of the hooligans. It is about the so-called “Joseph”, the chief member of Gate 7 who is accused of a series of felonies, and who is attributed a leading role in the criminal organization of football violence. The authorities consider how he gave the order for the attack against the MAT, which led to the murder of the unfortunate policeman.

What the protected witness claimed

“Upon his arrival at the “Melina Merkouri” court, he modified the plan of attack, which although initially was to take place after the end of the match, finally by his decision, took place after the end of the first set. Wearing a hat, being on the playing field of the stadium, he talked with H.M. – D. (the manager of the well-known trapper who was also sentenced to custody), who was in the stand of the organized fans of Olympiakos, near the sideline door, wearing a black sleeveless jacket and a dark colored blouse. Afterwards, both of them left the stadium, the members of the criminal organization were waiting outside the stadium and when they came out they gave them the weapons and instructed them to follow them and when they launch the objects they were holding (“Kontos” the improvised explosive device and X. M- D the naval flare), to throw in turn the objects that each had in their possession towards the Police Forces”.

Joseph’s criminal background

“Joseph” or “Kontos” has also been accused in the past of:

  • Dangerous Bodily Harm
  • Joint robbery
  • 3 person stabbing

“Here we are not dealing with a case of common criminal law, here we have a crime against society” the lawyer of the Lyggeridis family emphasized to SKAI, Vassilis Kapernaros.

Yesterday, with the unanimous decision of the investigator and the prosecutor, the trapper manager was also sentenced to pre-trial detention, who, according to numerous reports, ranks him in the leadership pyramid of the people who organized the attack against the MAT and supplied the hooligans’ army with munitions

What manager trapper claimed

“I deny the accusations attributed to me. At the time of the episodes I was in a fast food restaurant. I was targeted by the authorities because I had been involved in various fan incidents in the past. They offered me to be on the list of protected witnesses but I refused.”

The manager trapper was the “key holder” of the munitions warehouse under Karaiskakis’s VIP door, and organized the transfer of flares and Molotov cocktails to Rentis’s enclosure. Together with “Joseph” they gave the order to the strike teams for the murderous attack against the MAT.

These two people, according to data collected by the police in the context of the investigation, in addition to being leaders of the criminal organization, also had access to the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium.

Testimonies of Olympiakos fans

  • “They don’t lose a game, and I know by name “K” who stands in the stands, and “Iosif” who I see at the ball sitting behind the goals wearing a name tag and talking to “K”. As I told you, I also know “OMLE” by name, whom I have seen in the surrounding area of the football field and talking to “Iosif”.
  • “I have heard that he is called “OMLE”. I often see one whom I have heard called “Joseph” under the bleachers with a card. I’ve heard they are the “big heads” on the field.”

“Too many of the offenses mentioned in the case file result from the statements of the protected witnesses” emphasized the lawyer of the defendants Giannis Glykas.

The protected witnesses, however, allegedly implicate “H.M” and others extortion of peddlers outside gate 7 in Karaiskakis.

What the protected witness claimed

“X.M” for the last 1.5 years, has been taking money from all the stalls outside Gate 7 and maybe from the shops across the street. I have seen with my own eyes that he would send small children to break stalls in case they did not give the money he asked for or force them to pick up the stalls and leave. He gets at least 20 euros from each stall.”

The manager’s criminal history

The 27-year-old trapper manager, also known as “OMLE”, has previously been accused of:

  • Dangerous Bodily Harm
  • Explosion
  • Robbery
  • Illegal Gun Possession

SKAI spoke to partner of Giorgos Lingeridis, who was at the scene at the time of the murderous attack

“We were particularly impressed by the homicidal mood of the individuals. These attacks were completely unlike anything I have encountered in my entire police career. The ferocity, the hatred, the multitude of means, the murderous means they used, all these are definitely etched in my memory. But the main thing is George’s injury.”

Authorities are still searching three more people who are evading arrest and it is possible that they will be handed over in the coming days, while new arrest warrants are also expected for others involved in the incidents.

It seems that the “message” for the murder of the policeman is unfolding Giorgos Lyggeridis in Rentis with the second group accused of criminal organization, which was brought to court in the morning.

Of the 32 accused who were involved today, they have been remanded in custody so far five accused, while the apologies continue. A total of 12 accused have been sent to prison so far.
