From the ritual of Holy Week, the one that has always stood out in Syros more than anything else, is the litany of epitaphs on the evening of Good Friday in the center of Hermoupolis.

As in previous years, this year too, the aforementioned religious sequence had a special glow, without of course altering in the slightest the Christian message of the day which is the death of Christ.
A crowd of believers, visitors to Syros and citizens of the island, participated and watched the procession of the epitaphs that started early in the evening. As usual, the Catholic epitaph of the Holy Church of Evangelistria was the first to pass through Miaouli Square for the prayer by the vicar of the Church, Father Nikos, and then returned to his base.
A little while later the litany of the epitaph of the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin began and then the corresponding one of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos who headed to Miaouli Square waiting for the epitaph of the Metropolitan Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior which arrived a little later, together with the Metropolitan of Syros and Dorotheo and the representatives of the local authorities.
