The trial before the Mixed Jury Court of Caroline Krauts’s husband, Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, has been set for April 8, which has been referred to a trial by a panel of the Criminal Court for murder of 20-year-old in their homein Glyka Nera, last May.
The 33-year-old pilot is being tried for two felonies and two misdemeanors related to the offenses of intentional homicide committed in a calm mental state and animal abuse, as well as false accusation, as he made other suspects of his actions, and false testimony.
The case of the murder of the 20-year-old provoked strong reactions against the perpetrator, as for 37 days he tried to deceive the authorities by attributing his heinous acts to robbers who had allegedly invaded the house.
With their panel, the judges, who unanimously decided to refer him, adopted the prosecutor’s proposal that analyzed the crime and the perpetrator’s behavior, rejecting any allegation of mental accusation made against him due to the aggressive behavior of his daughter’s mother.
The competent prosecutor, who submitted his proposal to the judicial council, describes in detail the “Caroline extermination plan”, which “for a long time” the accused “cultivated in his mind to get rid of her presence”, analyzing how his plan Ananostopoulou included two parts: that of the murder of his wife and mother of his daughter and that of the subsequent “direction” to mislead the authorities and avoid the consequences.
“After the specific heated quarrel of the couple”, the prosecutor’s report states for the night of May 11, 2021, “the accused decided to proceed with the execution of a plan of extermination of his wife, which he had been cultivating in his mind for a long time, in order to get rid of her presence and be left alone with the child their. “His plan consisted of two parts, on the one hand the murder of Krauts and on the other hand the appearance of her death as a product of the criminal action of third unknown perpetrators in order to avoid his own criminal responsibilities”.
The prosecutor speaks of “scenography” that he set up in the maisonette in Glyka Nera before going up to the bedroom and drowning Caroline, who, according to the medical examiners, had a torturous, agonizing death, as the defendant’s attempt lasted five whole minutes. “This attempt of the accused to exterminate his wife lasted for five minutes and finally the victim ended up due to suffocation around 4:11”, it is noted in the prosecutor’s proposal, which emphasizes that the victim throughout the attempt of Anagnostopoulos tried to resist in intense physical and mental stress.
The 33-year-old has been temporarily detained since June 2021.
