“Scream” of anguish from the girl’s mother – The case has reportedly been known to the local authorities for years
The case in Kalamata, which refers to “Kostalexi” and concerns a 29-year-old girl who has been locked in a makeshift cage in her family’s home for 7 years.
The case became known throughout Greece when her mother made an appeal on an ANT1 show claiming that the 29-year-old has been dealing with a serious psychosomatic illness since 2017. According to the mother, the family built pallet cages to prevent her from harming herself her and those around her.
The case is said to have been known to the local authorities for years.
The girl was adopted by the family when she was 22 months old from the “Miter” infant institution and now, at 29 years old, she lives with her adoptive parents in the village of Ammos, just outside Kalamata.
In the video, her mother can be heard telling the girl to go for a walk, while at another point the girl is shouting and throwing objects through the makeshift bars.
The girl’s mother admitted that she built the cages both inside and in the yard of the house, so that her daughter would stay protected and not injure herself.
