“I calculate that the blows with my right hand were two or three” says Apostolos Lytras in his apology and mentions among other things that they went to the private clinic on his own initiative

The criminologist, Apostolos Lytras, testified to the investigator about what happened on Saturday night, which also led to the beating of his wife, Sofias Polyzogopoulou.
In particular, Mr. Lytras mentioned in his testimony how the fight started between him and his wife and how he reached the point of hitting her “instinctively” as he says after stretching his right hand while they were arguing.
At the same time, he mentions in his testimony that they went to the private clinic on his own initiative and adds that his wife herself told him to say that he fell down the stairs.
Mr. Lytras said in detail:
“On Saturday night we went to a restaurant in Vouliagmeni with a group of friends. All the way we were fine and talking about family matters. At the restaurant as I got up to go to her I saw that she was sending messages somewhere. I took her cell phone and asked her to give me the code so I could find out where she was sending these messages because I was jealous. She refused and I asked her to leave. When we got into the car we started arguing and since I was driving with my right hand I obviously hit her in the face without knowing the point and without having the slightest intention of causing her any harm” said Mr. Lytras and added:
“A few meters down there was an opening in the road where I stopped to talk. Another car came up behind me so I continued to drive while the verbal altercation continued. I hit her with my right hand from the driver’s seat and she hit the passenger seat, without intending to cause her any harm. And she knows that I had no such intention. We went home and we both said to go to the hospital as a precaution».
Mr. Lytras continued: “As we were both very tense we went to our house first where we stayed for 10 minutes, she took a shower and I took her to the Euroclinic on my own initiative. When we left home he told me “I’m not going to say anything about what happened” I told her too I will take responsibility. When we arrived at the Euroclinic, my wife was in the room she was in and I was with her he told me to say he fell down the stairs. In fact, my wife and I testified first after about two and a half hours. During this time he told me on the phone that testified that he fell down the stairs and that I was not present. I want to point out that the blow to my wife’s face was actually done by the extension of my right hand instinctively and impulsively, because we are about 40 centimeters apart. I estimate that the hits with my right hand were two or three. I point out to you that when she gave her statement I was already in the detention center and the police officers then went to take her statement. Therefore, there was no reason to fear anything. In fact on the phone she mentioned to me that she was asked by the police if she wanted a panic button and she just shook her head and it was assumed by the police that she wanted the panic button. All the while I’m being held, I am in constant communication with my wife both by phone and by text.”
