To be extradited to Sweden, where he is wanted for various criminal acts connected to the “war” of two rival gangs – but after first serving in Greek prisons the 20-month sentence recently imposed on him by a Halkidiki court – the Appeals Council of Thessaloniki decided for 24 years from Sweden.
The wanted person, originally from Kazakhstan, was arrested at the beginning of the month in Kassandra, Halkidiki, where he was present with his sister and his mother. At the time, a weapon, a fake identity card, as well as narcotics were found in his possession and for this reason he was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Polygyros to 20 months in prison, without parole. He did not appeal against the decision, but he was still being held on a European arrest warrant from the Swedish judicial authorities which – as it turned out – was pending against him.
According to Stockholm South Court documents, he is accused of inciting or assisting in kidnappings, extortion and brutal torture, acts that appear to have been carried out at various intervals, from October 2021 to January this year, and are part of the rivalry between two violent gangs operating mainly in drug trafficking, while their conflict counts many dead.
In the same gang as the 24-year-old, a 25-year-old with the nickname “Greek” is said to have a “protagonist” role, since his father comes from Greece.
During the discussion of the Swedes’ request, the 24-year-old emphasized that he does not wish to be extradited, while he denied the acts attributed to him, which he described as “pretend”. He also emphasized that his life is at risk if he is extradited and to substantiate this claim he mentioned that unknown people blew up the house where he lived in Stockholm. He also noted that during the time that the Swedes accuse him of having committed the above acts, he was living in Greece, specifically in Kozani.
He intends to appeal to the Supreme Court against the decision – opinion of the Council of Appeals of Thessaloniki.
