The 41-year-old man who is accused of running over his 35-year-old estranged wife while she was riding a two-wheeler, and after overturning her, grabbed her by the neck and threatened her, was sentenced to temporary custody.

For the incident that was reported a week ago in Nea Malgara, Thessaloniki, he was prosecuted for attempted murder, an act for which he apologized to the investigator today and with the consent of the prosecutor, he was remanded in custody.

He had recently been accused of the same crime, when arriving outside his ex-wife’s house, he started shooting with a hunting rifle, but without injury. He was then released on parole.

In his plea, the Albanian-origin defendant reportedly claimed that his estranged wife, with whom he has four children, “constantly provokes him” stressing that the fights started over financial issues.
