An additional 40 beaches are included in the list of “Cheating Beaches”, which now amount to 238 across the country, located within the Natura 2000 network, according toannouncement of the Ministries of Environment and Energy and National Economy and Finance

The expansion of this list was carried out after examining requests from citizens, municipalities as well as the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (O.F.Y.PE.K.A.) regarding both the exception and the addition of “fraudulent beaches”.

Also, some corrections were made to ensure that existing rights of citizens (eg neighboring businesses) are not included in this list.

With the amendment of the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMA), signed by the Ministers of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis and of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, the “Fraud beaches” are defined. in which the concession and, by extension, the placement of umbrellas, sunbeds, etc. will be prohibited.

On the “deceited beaches” strict restrictions are placed on the use of the seashore and the beach and any business activity is prohibited on them, with the aim of protecting the natural environment. However, active citizen contracts are not affected until they expire.

According to the KYA, the following are prohibited on “Deceptive Beaches”:

a) the presence of motor vehicles,

b) the organization of events with the participation of more than ten people,

c) music or the production of other sounds using an electrical reproduction or amplification device, for the exercise of activities
