Officers of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) made an arrest for the fire in Glyka Nera. This is a 35-year-old man, who was arrested for causing a fire in the forest area in the area of ​​Glyka Nefer Attica, while an administrative fine of 4,675 euros was imposed.

It is recalled that the fire that broke out a few hours ago in Glyka Nera in a forested area near a residential area was allegedly caused by the fall of a military-type drone.

According to information from the Fire Department, the 35-year-old is one of the four people who were brought in earlier by ELAS. In addition, the same information states that these 4 people, employees of a private company, were allegedly flying a drone, the fall of which is being examined as the cause of the fire

It is noted that the arrested person is being held and will be brought before the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens tomorrow.

The fire

The fire, which started at 14:20 at noon, immediately took on dimensions while a message was sent from 112 calling on the citizens in the area to remain on alert. According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out on the north side of Ymittos.

To extinguish it, strong ground and air forces were mobilized. From the air, 9 aircraft and 7 helicopters, one of which is coordinating.

Also, 100 firefighters were mobilized with 6 teams of walking departments and 25 vehicles.
