They complain about the compensations they received, which are characterized as unfair and inferior to the needs of the rural world and the damages they suffered
At the junction of the E65 on the Karditsa-Larissa road, shortly after 9.00 am on Tuesday (30/7) farmers and breeders from various Communities of the P.E. Karditsa participating in the call of EOASK and Agricultural Associations of P.E. to express in a dynamic way their protest for the compensations they received, which are characterized as unfair and inferior to the needs of the agricultural world and the damages they suffered, which is why they request their immediate completion, but also their payment to producers who do not were included in recent descents.
Additional problems that bring the farmers back to the streets according to what was discussed at the recent meeting convened by EOASK in Palamas are the low prices of agricultural products, the high cost of production, the delay in the rehabilitation of the dikes, the cleaning of the rivers, the construction of the dams in the mountains and in general all the anti-flood protection works that cause fear at the thought of a severe bad weather, as well as the non-implementation of the necessary irrigation works.
Also causing serious concern in the agricultural and livestock world is the non-start of IACS declarations, which portends a long delay in payments, the delay in the process of compensation for machinery and stored products, as the examination of the files submitted to the State Aid has not yet been completed for a large percentage and the non-payment of compensations to breeders who almost all cannot join the famous measure 5.2 for the construction of new stable facilities, as well as to producers whose fields were covered by the transported materials and cannot cultivate, without knowing although how much they will be compensated.
For all of the above, farmers and breeders request a meeting with the Minister of Rural Development, Mr. Kon. Ciara.
According to the Karditsalive.Net report, there are strong police forces at the intersection from early on with the mission of preventing the tractors from getting on the E65 roadway and it remains unknown so far if and when the farmers and breeders who gather at the point will be allowed to even get on and pedestrians on the road axis for a short-term symbolic blocking of it and the realization of an assembly. For the time being, the farmers continue to gather at the junction and in front of the junction’s entrance, which is blocked by an ELAS cage, and the start of negotiations is expected…
We note that from 8 am there are traffic regulations on the E65 highway as well as on the local national and provincial network.
Shortly after 09.30, the consultations with the police began to enable the farmers – breeders to go up with their vehicles on the E65. A few dozen tractors and agricultural vehicles and a strong police force are at the scene.
It was emphasized by the police to the representatives of the farmers that they cannot get on the highway with their vehicles and now the farmers-breeders are discussing their further actions.
The representatives of the farmers-breeders, after the exchange of views, it was announced that they will remain at the site for a little while longer, however, they requested that a meeting with the local Minister of Rural Development and Food, K. Tsiaras, be finalized immediately (by next Friday 2/8) to report to him from near their serious problems.
