The agroforestry companies reached 60 fires that occurred in the last twenty-four hours across the country, making today a difficult day for the Fire brigade. Of these, as it became known from the Fire Department, 47 were dealt with directly, in their initial stage, while the fire forces are still dealing with 13.

According to Civil Protection sources, many of them broke out at the same time after noon, while several of them were caused by lightning.

According to the same information, the fire brigades are facing active outbreaks in a ravine in the fire that occurred in an agroforestry area in Koromilia Domokos Fthiotidas.

Regarding the fires in Boeotia, as reported by the same sources, the fire brigade is dealing with scattered outbreaks in Tanagra while the fire in Skurta has been contained.

In particular, as Civil Protection sources point out, the most dangerous fires that required aerial assistance to deal with them were:

– At 10:10 the fire in low vegetation in the area of ​​Varamba Markopoulou. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes and 40 firefighters with 2 groups of infantry units, 10 vehicles, 2 aircraft and 2 helicopters attended the scene.

-At 13:47 the fire in a forest area in the Vadistra area of ​​Ioannina. According to Civil Protection sources, the fire was controlled in 1.5 hours and 29 firefighters with 1 group of foresters, 10 vehicles, 3 aircraft and 2 helicopters attempted to extinguish it.

– At 14:12 the fire in low vegetation in the area of ​​Sofo Aspropyrgos. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes and 43 firefighters with 2 groups of infantry units, 13 vehicles and 2 helicopters were dispatched to the scene. Local water bodies contributed.

– At 14:31 the fire in an agroforestry area in the area of ​​Koromilia Domokou Fthiotida. According to Civil Protection sources, no settlement is in danger so far, however there is still a front with the fire brigades dealing with active outbreaks in a ravine. 51 firefighters with 2 forest commando teams, 15 vehicles, 7 aircraft and 1 helicopter are operating at the scene. They support local water bodies as well as project machinery.

It is noted that two messages via 112 were sent to the residents. Specifically, at 15:00 an information message was issued by 112 for preparedness in the wider area, while at 15:09 an evacuation message was issued by 112 for evacuation from the Koromilia area to Agios Stefanos.

-At 15:00, a fire broke out in a forest area in Kalavryta, Achaia (Saitas). The fire is now without an active front, with scattered smoke while it is possible that it was caused by lightning. 30 firefighters, with 2 groups of pedestrian units, 7 vehicles and 2 aircraft and 2 helicopters are working to extinguish it.

-At 15:31 a fire broke out in a forest area in the Amfikleia area. The fire is believed to have been started by lightning and at this time there is only smoke. 12 firefighters, 6 vehicles and 1 helicopter are operating at the scene.

– At 15:41, a fire broke out in an agroforestry area in Tanagra, Boeotia. At the moment, the fire brigades are dealing with scattered outbreaks and 75 firefighters, with 4 groups of pedestrians, 19 vehicles, 8 aircraft and 1 helicopter are working to extinguish it. They support water bodies OTAs.

-At 15:44, a fire in low vegetation in the Argyrades area in Corfu. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes and 19 firefighters, with 1 group of forest commandos, 5 vehicles and 2 aircraft worked on the scene.

– At 4:30 p.m., fire in a forest area in Agios Athanasios – Skurta settlement of Viotia (Dervenochoria). According to Civil Protection sources, the fire has been contained and 35 firefighters, with 2 forestry teams, 8 vehicles, 4 aircraft and 2 helicopters are working to extinguish it.

Regarding the fire in Rodopi, Civil Protection sources point out that it has been without a front since last night, at the moment there is only scattered smoke.

It is noted that the local investigative offices, as well as Units of the Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.

Finally, the Fire Department calls on all citizens to be especially careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to faithfully follow the instructions of the competent Authorities.
