Selling used electric cars in Europe is proving to be a difficult business. Although not long ago the demand was small, however, in recent times it has risen considerably, following a steady upward trend.

In January this year, the share of sales of used electric vehicles in the European market was 4.01%. Since then things have improved and this June it arrived at 5.30%. A rate that is the largest recorded to date.

Despite a marginal increase in sales of new electric cars in Europe, demand for used electric cars is still weak. A an important reason is the increased selling pricesbut also the well-known problems of the first generation electric cars, which was the short range. In this equation we should also put lack of charging infrastructure which is a problem not only for used electric cars, but also for new ones.

The highest percentage of sales is recorded on used cars up to four years old. They are also the ones that carry better technology, but also have quite long autonomy. The particular used electric BEVs increased their market share by 36.7% in June compared to this year’s January, showing at the same time the trend and shift of European consumers towards used electric cars.
