Thirty agroforestry fires face it Fire Department and the Civil Protection forces in the last 24 hours, of which 24 were dealt with directly, in their initial stage, while the fire forces are still dealing with 6.

The last fire broke out a short time ago (18:12) in a rural area in Thermi Pylaia of Thessaloniki and was immediately contained by ground forces.

According to Civil Protection sources, 7 fires were particularly dangerous and the assistance of aerial means was needed to deal with them, while in two of them messages from 112 were also issued.

More specifically:

– On 09:18a fire broke out in an agro-forestry area in the Pastra area of ​​Kefalonia for which a message of readiness was issued by 112. The fire was controlled within 45 minutes and 26 firefighters, 2 groups of forestry officers, 6 vehicles, 8 aircraft and 1 helicopter tried to extinguish it, while local water bodies, project machinery and volunteers.

-At 11:30 a fire broke out, which was brought under control within an hour, in an agroforestry area in the Katakalo area of ​​Akti, Vonitsa. 18 firefighters, 1 forest commando team, 5 vehicles and 5 aircraft worked at the scene. Municipal water bodies and project machinery assisted.

– On 12:15 p.ma fire broke out in an agroforestry area in the area of ​​Karydia Rodopi. The fire was brought under control within two hours while a warning message was sent by 112 for preparedness in the wider area. To extinguish it, 62 firefighters, 2 forest commando groups, 21 vehicles, 5 aircraft and 1 helicopter attempted to extinguish it, while assistance was provided by OTA water carriers and construction machinery.

– A fire broke out on 13:58 in an agroforestry area in the Vasiloperama region of Laconia. The fire was brought under control within an hour and 18 firefighters, 6 vehicles and 2 aircraft worked on the scene, while there was assistance from local water bodies.

– On 15:15a fire broke out in an agroforestry area in the area of ​​Panetolio Agrini, which was controlled within 60 minutes. 34 firefighters, 2 forest commando groups, 10 vehicles and 4 aircraft operated, while they provided assistance with water OTAs and construction machinery.

– A few minutes later, specifically on 15:19a fire broke out in an agricultural area in the Monastiraki area of ​​Argos Mycenae. The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes and 10 firefighters, 5 vehicles and 1 helicopter worked on the scene, while local water tankers and volunteers helped.

– On 15:37 a fire broke out in an agricultural area in the area of ​​Scarfia Molou Fthiotidos. 22 firefighters, 1 pedestrian unit, 6 vehicles and 2 aircrafts attempted to bring the fire under control in an hour, while assistance was provided by local water bodies.

The local investigative offices, as well as units of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.

Finally, the Fire Department calls on all citizens to be especially careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to faithfully follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
