The Municipality of Nea Propontida is in a state of emergency due to water shortage
The Municipality of Nea Propontida, in Halkidiki, was declared in a State of Civil Protection Emergency due to water shortage, by decision of the General Secretary of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, to manage the consequences that may arise from the occurrence of water shortage phenomena in the above area.
This declaration is valid until September 27, with the possibility of extension.
“The situation of the adequacy of the amount of water in this period of time in our Municipality is dramatic. But we don’t give up. We will try with all our strength to cope, in any suitable legal way“, said the mayor of Nea Propontida, Manolis Karras.
“In order to achieve this, we have requested the assistance of the state, so that our Municipality can be declared in a state of civil protection emergency due to water shortage, seeking the fastest and most effective response from the competent agencies, with the aim of minimizing the effects of the water shortage and restoring the normality as soon as possible“, he added and warmly thanked Mr. Papageorgiou, who responded positively to the municipality’s request.
