The second payment of state aid to those affected by the recent fires of August 11, 2024 in areas of the Attica Region took place today as announced by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
In particular, 188,627.50 euros were credited to 47 beneficiaries in the form of first aid, after the first applications were submitted on the arogi.gov.gr platform.
In more detail, according to the ministry’s announcement, 164,627.50 euros were paid to 41 property owners, in the form of first aid against housing assistance, after cross-checking the applications submitted on the arogi.gov.gr platform, by the General Secretariat for the Restoration of Natural Disasters and State Aid of the ministry. Also, a payment of 20,000 euros was made to 6 businesses in the form of first aid against a grant, after cross-references with the applications submitted to the Region of Attica. In total, in the current week, 731,409 euros have been paid to 162 beneficiaries.
At the same time, the process of cross-checking the data submitted through the first aid platform, arogi.gov.gr, will continue depending on the course of submission of new applications, so that new payments follow.
It should be noted that within the framework of the first aid assistance through arogi.gov.gr for the recent fires, the following are granted:
a) First aid against housing assistance to owners, by full or partial ownership, of buildings that suffered damage from fires, which are characterized by the competent services of the General Secretariat for Rehabilitation of Natural Disasters and State Aid of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, as dangerous for use (“red”) or as temporarily unfit for use (“yellow”), with the amount of first aid amounting to 10,000 euros or 5,000 euros, respectively. The payment of the first aid aid is made after cross-checking the data of the first aid applicants with the data of the services of the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Aid.
b) First aid against a grant to affected businesses and non-profit organizations, as well as agricultural holdings, depending on the level of damage, with the amount of first aid amounting to 2,000 euros for serious damage and 4,000 euros for very serious damage to the elements their assets. The payment of the first aid aid is made after cross-checking the data of the first aid applicants with the applications of the affected businesses that have been submitted to the Region for the recording and assessment of damages by the state aid committees.
It is noted that the amount of the first aid received by each property owner is offset against the amount of the final housing assistance, as this will be determined by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection with a relevant decision on the delimitation and granting of housing assistance, after the submission of the relevant file. Accordingly, the amount of the first grant aid is offset against the final grant amount, as determined by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, after the registration and assessment of damages by the State aid committees of the Region.
The deadline for submitting applications at arogi.gov.gr for the granting of first aid aid against housing assistance from owners of affected buildings and first aid against grants from affected businesses and agricultural holdings, has been extended until September 30, 2024. The General Secretariat for Natural Rehabilitation of Disasters and State Aid, in a context of close cooperation with the Region of Attica, continues its work, with the aim of effectively supporting the citizens as well as the economic life of the regions and businesses affected by the fires of August 11, 2024.
