The master of the Cypriot-flagged passenger ferry “JUMBO JET” attributed the forward movement of the speedboat during passenger boarding at the port of Mykonos to a wrong move, which resulted in three passenger luggage and a baby carriage falling into the sea.

This is stated in a statement by the port authority, pointing out that the master was arrested for violation of article 291 par. 3 of the Criminal Code regarding “Dangerous interference with the transport of fixed-track vehicles” and after apologizing to the District Attorney of Syros, he was released.

The ship had sailed to the port of Mykonos coming from Piraeus, Syros, Tinos with 946 passengers, while after presenting a certificate of maintenance of class by the attending classifier to the Port Authority of Mykonos, the ship sailed with 705 passengers for Paros, Naxos and final destination Piraeus, where he sailed safely.
