An attack with racist characteristics against a 33-year-old transgender woman and a 31-year-old man, by a taxi driver, which occurred early on Thursday in the center of Athens, was investigated by the Police.

According to ELAS, the two victims boarded a taxi and its driver during the journey and after a conversation between them, during which the gender identity of the 33-year-old woman was realized, he stopped the taxi, got them off and attacked them. punching and kicking them.

The 33-year-old woman, in her attempt to escape from the perpetrator, who was following her, fell into the entrance window of an apartment building, as a result of which it broke and injured her, while the 31-year-old man was on the ground.

The 33-year-old was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.

Police officers from the Anti-Racist Violence Department of the Attica Security Directorate, who handled the case as a preliminary investigation, after a combined evaluation of data and information, identified the 55-year-old perpetrator, brought him in yesterday Sunday afternoon and a case was filed against him for threatening and dangerous bodily harm with racial slurs I qualified.
