Yiannis Pavlosoglou, with distinguished studies in Great Britain, assumes a decisive role that marks a new era for EAK
Duties of its new operational deputy commander National Cybersecurity Authority (EAK) is taken over by dr. Yannis Pavlosogloua senior Cyber Security executive with 20 years of experience in the areas of risk assessment and management and information assurance.
Yannis Pavlosoglou, with distinguished studies in Great Britain, assumes a decisive role that marks a new era for EAK, with an emphasis on further strengthening the security of information systems and the implementation of resilience strategies. Distinguished for his ability to apply advanced security standards, he has established the effectiveness of services where he has worked, in environments of high uncertainty and potential threats.
“The rich career path and deep knowledge of cyber security issues make Yannis Pavlosoglou the right choice for the position of executive deputy commander of the Unified Cyber Security Authority” stated the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou and underlined that “his extensive training will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the EAK. Upgrading the level of cyber security and safeguarding the rights of citizens requires expertise, commitment and understanding of the relevant issues, which based on his track record the new deputy commander possesses».
Welcoming Dr. Yiannis Pavlosoglou in the EAK team the commander, Michael Bletsas pointed out that “the new deputy commander with his specialized studies and extensive experience in key positions of large organizations, has made a decisive contribution to the promotion of best practices in cyber security and resilience of these organizations against digital threats. His transition to EAK from the private sector is a milestone for the achievement of the Authority’s goals. We look forward to his experience, and his abilities».
For his part, the new deputy commander, Yannis Pavlosoglou, emphasized that “I am honored to assume the duties of operational deputy commander in the EAK. Sta six years since its establishmentthe General Directorate of Cyber Security has been harmonized with European directives, helping to protect vital infrastructures of Greece. At the same time, it has developed international collaborations, such as with ENISA, and demonstrates a rapid response to cyber threats. I am excited to have the opportunity to participate in the National Cyber Security Authority, helping to ensure a digitally resilient Greece, where the security of information systems is the foundation of progress and development».
Biography of Yannis Pavlosoglou
Yannis Pavlosoglou is an executive with many years of experience in the field of cyber security, specialized in risk management and information assurance. It has implemented international security standards, such as those of NIST, BSI and ISO, as well as business resilience standards. He founded the company KIBERNA and led as UK Chief Information Security Officer at UBS. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), where he was president in 2023. He has also been head of strategic change and business resilience at UBS. He has rich experience in IT risk management.
He holds a PhD in Engineering for Secure Protocol Design and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Warwick, Great Britain.
