The immediate intervention of the head of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office was caused by incident with the Suburban train that almost entered the Metro tunnel in the Duchess of Placentia.
Mr. Aristides Correas ordered an urgent preliminary investigation into the incident that occurred on October 9.
The investigation will be undertaken by the First Instance Prosecutor, Mr. Andreou, who will establish whether criminal acts have been committed, such as the offense of dangerous interference in the transportation of fixed-track vehicles, and by whom.
According to a report, the train, which was moving on the Suburban railway lines, had started from Kanza bound for Ano Liosia, but was found after wrong handling inside the Metro tunnel.
The train driver received an order and entered the wrong line. The driver realized that a mistake had been made and tried to contact the station master, but was unsuccessful.
So he slowed down, so that the remote control would understand that something was wrong, which it did.
