Which schools will be closed in Attica on Thursday due to the bad weather “Filippos”

Schools in the north and east of Attica will remain closed due to the bad weather “Filippos”, as decided in meeting convened by the Attica Regional Governor, George Patoulis, with 66 mayors of the prefecture.

According to a post by Mr. Patoulis, on Facebook, live classes will not be held tomorrow in all Primary and Secondary Schools:
1. In the whole of the Regional Unit of the Northern Sector of Attica.
2. In the entire Regional Unit of Eastern Attica, with the exception of the municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni in which everything will be open except the 3rd Municipal Panorama and the 2nd-3rd High School of Voula which will be closed.
3. In the Regional unit of West Attica all the schools of the Municipality of Fili will be closed, while in the Municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia the schools in the Municipal units of Vilia and Erythra will be closed.

The announcement from the Civil Protection

A new coordination meeting was held today under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, for the optimal coordination of all bodies and dealing with the effects of the bad weather “Filippos” that is already affecting much of the country. It is recalled that a similar meeting took place yesterday, Tuesday, March 8.

The meeting was held with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Lefteris Oikonomou, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgis, George Papageorgis of the Regional Governors of Attica, George Patoulis and Central Greece, Fani Spanou. The President of KEDE, Dimitris Papastergiou, also participated.

In the context of the meeting and subsequent detailed briefing by the Director of the National Meteorological Service (EMY), Theodoros Kolydas, specific preventive measures were examined for the regions of Attica and eastern Central Greece.

Specifically, according to the discussion that took place, the meeting concluded that the schools will remain closed, tomorrow Thursday 10 March, in areas of northern, eastern and western Attica. The specific areas are expected to be announced by the Attica Region and the relevant Municipalities.

In addition, from tonight, the entry of heavy vehicles on Attiki Odos, as well as in sections of Nea Odos / Main Road will be prohibited. More information will be announced by the relevant Traffic Directorates and the concessionaires of the road network management. Relevant announcements are also expected for the points where drivers will enter these highways only if their vehicles are equipped with anti-skid chains.

The meeting was also attended by the President of EKAB, Nikos Papaefstathiou, the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Alexios Rapanos, the Deputy Chief of Police, Lieutenant General Ioannis Petroutsos, the Lieutenant General of ELAS, Eftherios Laskos, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the General Coordination Director of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, Foivos Theodorou. In addition, representatives of the National Road Network management concessionaires participated (Nea Odos SA / Central Road SA, Moreas SA, Olympia Odos SA, Attikes Diadromes SA), as well as the CEO of HEDNO, Anastasios Manos.
