The deadline passed yesterday but very few professional drivers – of the 14,000 taxis in Athens – appear to have complied with the regulation
Starting yesterday, TAXI drivers who did not take care to procure and affix the sign for the POSas the deadline has expired since yesterday.
As Homeros Tsapalos, press representative of the Ministry of Finance, told SKAI, from next week the AADE audits begin.
The sticker must be placed on the outside of the right rear door and states that customers have the right to pay by card via POS and that they are required to have a POS and accept card payments, otherwise the customer may not pay and to leave
However, very few professional motorists – out of the 14,000 taxis that exist in Athens – appear to have complied with the regulation as, according to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the Attica Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) refuses to receive the specific signs from the AADE to distribute them to professionals.
“Even at the last minute, there is the possibility in the next few days that each driver can go individually to request his sticker from POEIATA or go to the website of AADE, see the specifications and print the sticker himself,” said Mr. Tsapalos.
As he pointed out, “there is no complex against taxi drivers… One of the reasons we put the sticker and push the market as a whole for POS is because both their interconnection and the POS act makes it much easier for us to deal with tax evasion”.
