Arrest warrants have been issued by the judicial authorities for the actions of people involved in fan violence, as the investigation carried out by the sports prosecutor Costas Spyropoulos resulted in the detection of illegal actions that form hooligan groups that act violently using dangerous means.
The investigation was ordered by the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Vassilios Pliotas, and the competent Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Zacharias Kokkinakis.
The investigation established a total of 18 offenses, five of which were felonies and six arrest warrants.
The serious indictment includes offenses such as forming, joining and directing a criminal organization, robberies, explosions, possession of explosives, serious intentional bodily harm, dangerous bodily harm, violation of the law on weapons, damage to foreign property and arson.
According to information from the pre-investigation investigation, the leader of the criminal organization is a 27-year-old woman, who has been accused of violating sports laws in the past. This great investigation of the prosecution continues in every direction, as in the “microscope” of Justice there are attacks of fans, of all groups, while the first case that has already been formed, concerns fan violence by alleged Panathinaikos fans.
The criminal organization was allegedly set up and operated from April 2019 to September 2021 in Athens and Piraeus. According to information, victims of attacks in other cases have identified the perpetrators, while in other cases they have descriptions as most times, they committed the crimes wearing bad clothes and having their facial features covered.
The lifting of telephone secrecy played an important role in the substantiation of the accusations and in the issuance of the arrest warrants, as through the dialogues and telephone conversations of the accused, the conciliation between them for the ensuing beatings emerged as well as the dominant – leading role given authorities to the 27-year-old woman.
The perpetrators acted in groups of 15 to 40 people and threw Molotov cocktails and used knives, batons and iron rods in each of their attacks.
Based on all these data, the sports prosecutor Mr. Spyropoulos filed the criminal prosecution and the case file was forwarded to the 2nd regular investigator, who with the consent of the prosecutor issued the six warrants. So far, four people have been arrested while two others are escaping arrest.
The accused will apologize for the acts attributed to them to the investigator, who together with the competent prosecutor will decide on their further criminal treatment.
