The installation of the specific cameras will be carried out in implementation of a contract that is expected to be signed by Region of Attica in the following days with the contractors of the company that was selected through an electronic tender. The cost of the supply, installation and maintenance of the cameras that will function as devices for recording violations of the road traffic code, is expected to reach 18.8 million. euros and the resources will be covered by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. The cameras will be installed gradually over the next year and a half.

The plan

According to the plan, the cameras will be connected to the traffic lights located at 100 junctions on the roads of the basin, where according to the traffic data, most accidents occur. The cameras are planned to be placed, among others, at the central intersections of Kifisias, Syngrou, Vasilissis Sofia, Vouliagmeni, Katehaki, Mesogeion, Piraeus, Amalia, Paneseptiou, Alexandra, Paiania-Koropio, Kifissou, Galatsiou, Veiko, Patision, Akadimia, Davaki avenues. , Amphitheatre, Poseidon, Thebes, Iroon Polytechnic in Piraeus, Acharnon, Deceleia, NATO, Demokratia and Harokopo.

The camera models selected have software that will connect to the beacons. “As soon as the red light turns on, the video recording of the intersection will begin.
