The Fire Department draws everyone’s attention to avoid financial fraud of businesses/financial entities due to the recent occurrence of such incidents, regarding financial transactions with the Fire Department.

In particular, the Fire Department reports:

In order to avoid financial fraud of businesses/financial entities and on the occasion of the recent occurrence of such incidents, regarding financial transactions with the Fire Brigade, we announce that:

  • be especially wary of strangers calling you pretending to be from the Fire Service and trying to get you to give them bank account details.
  • in these cases you should always seek to contact the person you already know to represent the Fire Department by phone, to confirm what they are calling for,
  • the communication should be made with your own phone and on your own initiative and you should not accept to speak with a person who was called by strangers from their own phone,
  • try to retain any characteristics of the perpetrators, if they contact you, their phone number as well as the vehicles they drive (registration number, vehicle make, color, etc.) to assist law enforcement’s work” .

Finally, the Fire Department draws the attention of everyone, “in order to be especially cautious and in any case, even in an attempt to deceive, to immediately contact the Greek Police at the three-digit telephone number “100”.
