Another organ donation within a few days took place at Chania Hospital. This is another important act of giving life, as said by the hospital’s director George Beas. “An unfortunate fellow citizen of ours, who was in an irreversible condition, hospitalized, finally her relatives decided to do the great deed, with greatness of soul and donate life to other people”, said the commander.

Immediately after the decision of the relatives, the Transplantation Center was informed and the business of receiving the 45-year-old’s organs was set up. “After midnight yesterday, the 27th of the month, teams from Onassios and the People’s Hospital from Athens, went to Chania, to the General Hospital and received the organs, the Heart, the Onassios and the People’s Hospital, the Kidneys and Liver” said Mr. Beas.

It is a gift of life for the unfortunate 45-year-old, which comes after a donation made a few days ago by another 55-year-old patient, who was also in an irreversible state of health. “And in that case, the relatives proceeded to the magnificent act, that of donating organs, specifically the liver, which received a special echelon for Palermo, Italy”, said Giorgos Beas who thanked the relatives for their decision, but also the doctors, of the ICU for the titanic battle, as he said, that they gave to keep them alive, the surgeons as well as the surgeons of others hospitals in Greece, abroad “and of course him National Transplant Agency for the successful transport operation and its coordination”.

The message to all citizens that the governor of Chania Hospital Agios Georgios wants to send is to gain awareness about Organ Donation “which is an act of life, a greatness of soul, the supreme gift of life to fellow human beings”.
