A gang of Turks active in the trafficking of narcotics and illegal weapons was dismantled by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate of the Attica Crime Investigation and Prosecution Directorate.

Following investigation and evaluation of information received by the National Intelligence Service, regarding the said gang that had established itself in our country by developing criminal activity, the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of OPKE police officers, planned and carried out a police operation in Dafni, Porto Rafti and Anavyssos, where he identified and arrested the -11- members of the gang.

A case file was filed against them for forming a gang, violating the laws on drugs, weapons and money laundering.

As it emerged from the further investigation, a 25-year-old member of the gang was being prosecuted with a Red Notice by the Turkish authorities for a case of drug trafficking.

The other members who knew that the 25-year-old was wanted as an international wanted man, took care of hiding him, either in houses he rented, or in a luxury hotel.

“Investments” in luxury homes

The profits of the gang from the illegal transportation of weapons and drugs, which they imported from Turkey to our country and then to European countries, were invested in luxury homes and other activities.

What did the investigations find?

From the large-scale operation in Dafni, Porto Rafti and Anavyssos, among others, were found and seized:

  • -82,065- euros,
  • number of packages with quantities of cannabis,
  • luxury watches,
  • replica pistol,
  • -2- knives,
  • multitude of electronic devices,
  • handwritten notes with written sums of money and
  • 3 cars

The gang members were taken to Mr. Prosecutor of the Athens Court of First Instance.
