Geremeyev: “We know what we need to fix – We have become more compact”

Alexander Geremeyev stated that he is sure of the even greater improvement in Panathinaikos’ game in his statements ahead of the team’s match against Asteras AKTOR in Tripoli.

The green striker emphasized the importance of the victory in Peristeri as it came, pointing out that Panathinaikos has become more compact.

In the last game against Atromitos in Peristeri, you found yourself behind in the score very early, but you reacted exceptionally on the field and “turned” the score around, getting a very important victory.



“It was very important to win this game because it was the first of the series with Atromitos in the Cup. The whole process was a lot, because they closed the spaces very well after the goal they scored, but we showed a very good mentality and it is very good that we found a way to get the upset and the victory. Even more so because a few days before we had drawn with the same opponent at home…”.

On Sunday (8/12) the second round starts for you with another very difficult game in Tripoli against Asteras. In a period where you show that you are starting to find your footing as a team and have improved your game:



“We have become much more solid as a team and we are playing better and better. We all feel good, although we definitely want to create more chances. As a striker, I also want to be much more active in creating phases and scoring goals. But in the phase we are in, it is very important to get the victories together as a team. And that’s why we are very satisfied with the result we got in this first game of the Cup”.

Do you think you learned your lessons as a team from what happened in the first round of the Super League?



“What we do now is watch the matches one by one and work separately every day. Obviously we are trying to improve our weaknesses for the games to come, which are very important in all competitions. During this time it is difficult to work in training, because the matches are one behind the other every three days. We know what we need to fix and if we work on it correctly for a period, we will be the ones we need to be and we will get the results we want…”.
