Wanted by the Turkish prosecuting authorities for participation in a criminal organization and drug trafficking, he was arrested in Thessaloniki.
It’s about 46 years old Turkwho has reportedly been residing permanently in Greece lately and is the holder of a temporary identity card for a political asylum seeker.
He was found yesterday on Monastiriou street and during a check it was found that an INTERPOL red notice is pending against him.
Under these circumstances, he was arrested by the Department for the Prosecution of Crimes Against Life and Property of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece.
Today at noon he was taken to the Appeals Prosecutor’s Office of Thessaloniki and it was decided to release him under restrictive conditions until the competent Appeals Council gives its opinion on the Turkish extradition request. The restrictive conditions, according to information, concern his appearance twice a month at the police station of the place of residence and the ban on leaving the country.
