The subject of the investigator’s interest were reports against a police officer, that on the night of the fatal injury of Giorgos Lyggeridis, he ignored the leadership’s orders to exclude the fans inside the closed Melina Merkouris and allowed the departure of Olympiacos hooligans, who participated in the incidents.

According to court documents, a MAT police officer testified to the investigator that: “It was four in the morning. I saw the officer escort two people in sportswear and allow them to leave the blockade. Relatives of those arrested were gathered behind, a lady from the crowd shouted “Why are they leaving?” and the officer said to her “what do you care?”. 20 days ago, the officer testified to the investigator as a witness. In response to his questions, he said that “Two minor children who actually had tickets for the lower area of ​​the stadium and were blocked in the forecourt were allowed to leave . I asked the Police Director and the Deputy Director of MAT and they agreed to leave“.

PAE Olympiacos board member Kostas Karapapas, who apologized for the incidents at Rentis in 2023, was released with a restrictive condition after his apology to the investigator.
