Electric cars proved to be a big problem, while 95% of the vehicles that went to Arachova did not have chains
For the queues of kilometers with stationary cars that were created on Christmas Day in Arachova the mayor of the area spoke, explaining the reasons for this disturbance and how they dealt with it.
As Mr. initially says Yannis Stathas jokingly: “For the first time in my life we also pushed electric cars. I did that too. Electric cars block everything and are not like conventional ones. You cannot remove gears, hand brakes, etc., these do not apply. It wants you to disconnect it, it wants codes. Two cars to make them on the edge we suffered too much. They were boned, he wanted codes to set the wheels in motion.”
And he explains how: “The traffic jam was caused by two things. It was also done by electric cars but the most important thing is that there was one roadside assistance vehicle which also closed the two currentsat the height of Livadi. Until he put on chains, it resulted in a delay. And along the way there were others who didn’t have chains and that created a problem as they pulled over.”

Finally, Mr. Stathas points out that: “People may have suffered a little, but there are thousands of people here on the mountain, in Arachova and in the two villages. We may have been tired, but because it happened in Livadi, we had taverns nearby, everything, no one was in danger and this is the most basic of all. We got everyone off the mountain safely as 95% of them had no chains”.
