The family of the hotel owner is mourning his death after he fell from the 1st floor as soon as the fire broke out.
One dead and ten injured are the toll of the big fire that broke out early in the morning in Aeolic Star Hotelin the center of Kalambaka, an accommodation located under the evocative rocks of Meteora.
The Christmas break turned into a thriller for the hotel’s occupants who were forced out of their rooms with the help of the fire brigade, while the family of the hotel’s owner mourned his death.
The 55-year-old man jumped from the 1st floor balcony as soon as the fire broke out.
The hotel is centrally located in Kalambaka, at the junction of Liakata and 28th of October streets, very close to Meteora and the historical monasteries of the area, while it is 14 km from Trikala. It has 15 rooms.
According to local media, 10 people, including four children, were admitted to the Trikala General Hospital with breathing problems.
The causes of the fire have not been made known.
26 firefighters with 8 vehicles responded to the scene, while a special ladder truck was mobilized where they rescued 30 people.
