The citizens will be subsidized for the supply of motor fuels through an electronic platform, as revealed this morning by Demosthenes Anagnostopoulos, Secretary General of Information Systems of Public Administration of the Ministry of Digital Government.
Mr. Anagnostopoulos told ANT1 that the final works are being done for the completion of the relevant electronic platform.
According to the Secretary General of Information Systems, on the special platform the beneficiaries will enter the fuel purchase data and then the amount of the subsidy will be calculated.
However, Mr. Anagnostopoulos did not want to give further details.
The measures will be announced in detail on Thursday morning by the competent ministers.
The three measures, which are expected to be announced tomorrow –precision check, petrol intervention and electricity subsidy– aimed at strengthening households, businesses and farmers.
According to information, the axes of government intervention move on three levels.
Firstin the direct provision of aid that will mainly concern, but not only, the weakest, Secondly fuel prices and thirdly continuing to subsidize electricity and gas bills.
Initially, the “Accuracy check”as it has been characterized, will concern more than one million citizens and its amount is determined in 200 to 300 euros. Beneficiaries will be low-income retirees, low-income families and those receiving the minimum guaranteed income.
THE fuel subsidy will be done with income and property criteria, in order to benefit the financially weaker. The government has ruled out a horizontal reduction of the Excise Tax or VAT on fuel and at today’s meeting the mechanism through which the beneficiaries will be subsidized will be determined. On the table is the idea of ​​creating a platform through which the tax refund will be for the fuel they buy. Separate intervention for farmers is also being discussed to curb the cost of oil.
Electricity and gas bills have been decided the continuation of the subsidy for March and April and even with increased intervention, as wholesale prices skyrocketed in the first weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, government planning includes tackling the scandals and speculative effects of inflation. As competent executives note, all the tools and every mechanism of the state will be used in order to deal with such phenomena.
