Announcement of the PSAT
“Greek sports are orphaned from today. A little earlier, the patriarch of Sports Journalism passed away from us and for 16 years was the president of the Panhellenic Sports Press Association (PSAT), Petros Linardos, at the age of 97. But despite his age, he wrote articles in VIMA until the last moment. And always with positive thinking and great love for athletes, sports scientists and sports clubs.
The man who worked for decades with ethics and principles, supporting not only sports journalism but also the whole spectrum of sports, has passed away. A prolific columnist and author, he contributed greatly to the rise of the level in our industry, opening new horizons.
Petros Linardos and his wife Zafeiroulas (Roula) who passed away a little earlier had two sons, Nikos, a member of the national basketball team in 1987, and Dimitris, a graphic designer and three granddaughters.
The Board of PSAT with its announcement expresses the deepest sorrow of the Sports Editors for the loss of the patriarch of Sports Journalism. The president of PSAT, Giannis Theodorakopoulos, has already contacted the two sons of the deceased to convey to them the sincere condolences of our industry. May his memory live forever…”.
