Citizens’ attention is drawn to the ELAS Headquarters as it is skeptical to deceive unsuspecting citizens are moving a new false – delusional message using data from the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate.

Specifically, according to ELAS, the perpetrators, using these details in a letter of supposedly competent audit authorities, are trying to deceive citizens – users of the Internet, on the pretext that their recipient is involved in a child pornography case and other offenses, asking them to call for any abuses. In their attempt to give “plausibility” to the letter, the logos of the Greek Police, the Electronic Crime Prosecution, the Europol, and a stamp impression with the alleged signature of executives of the above service, are used to the letter.

ELAS points out that the text – email transmitted by email, as a alleged letter from the Electronic Crime Prosecution, is obviously false and deceitful and sent by perpetrators who obviously attempt to deceive – mislead the citizens and then to obtain the citizens.

In this context, ELAS appeals to citizens not to respond, delete this message and “not open” the attached files.

It is recalled that more tips to avoid deceiving citizens are posted on the Hellenic Police website (www.astynomia.gr), in the “Citizen Guide/Useful Tips” section, while additional information and tips on electronic deception is available on the website of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Website www.cybelert.gr.
