On Friday, June 20, 2025, a hospital physician, accused of continuous bribery by the Northern Greece Home Affairs Service, was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025.
“Yesterday, after a patient complaint, a professor of cardiac surgeon in Larissa PGN was arrested because he asked for 2,500 € from a patient to perform planned surgery,” Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said in a post and adds:
“It was immediately made available and we canceled all its surgeries. I am really sorry that while we have already given the possibility of practicing a parallel private work and extra money with afternoon surgeries, there are still unconscious doctors who take advantage of the difficult time of patients and their families. These few have no place in the NSS! If this complaint proves to be, truly ashamed and to anyone else. “
