In places of tourist interest and especially in coastal areas, they carry their victims in the summer the circuits of trading and exploiting people. On the contrary, in winter they are active in urban centers and where in general, there is commercial interest.
These remarks were made by members of the ARSIS Social Organization Streetwork during an event held at the Thessaloniki City Hall as part of the Special Coordination Services for victims of trafficking in the southeastern Balkans.
According to Social Worker, a member of the Streetwork Group Nikos Kotoula, possible trafficking victims are found in the summer in tourist areas. ‘The weather plays a natural role for moving them while being selected locations where they have high trafficMr. Kotoulas stressed.
It is noted that ARSIS has implemented the special action for victims of trafficking in human beings in collaboration with the National Center for Social Solidarity (EKKA) from 1 January 2024. To Bulgaria The State Service participates child protection and the A21 organization and in Romania The Terre des Hommes Romania organization.
The aim of the action is to contribute to the creation of good practices between the principles of the three countries as well as to strengthen transnational mechanisms of detection and support of victims. The action is part of the “Greece – Internal Security Fund 2021-2027” in the specific objective “Prevention and Fight in Crime” and is co -funded by the European Union.
