There is no danger from the removal of soil that occurred last Sunday in Imerovigli, the Municipality of Santorini said in a statement.

He also points out that the peoples of land on the slopes of the caldera are a common phenomenon due to the particular geological morphology of Santorini.

The Municipality of Thira, in the context of its competence, in the event of the detachment of the soil that occurred last Sunday on the slopes of the day, informs that the estimates of the competent authorities show that there is no question of danger. Any other reference that causes incorrect impressions and altering reality creates a misleading sense of the fact.

It is clarified that building work is not carried out in the area, as during the tourist season there is an explicit prohibition on execution of such activities.

The peoples of land on the slopes of the caldera are not an unusual phenomenon due to the particular geological morphology of Santorini. Festers, networks and other shielding measures have been installed for the protection of residents and infrastructure, where there is anthropogenic environment, while additional interventions are provided for specific areas, according to the Joint Ministerial Decision issued after the February earthquakes.

It is emphasized that incidents of this type, although they may be impressed, rarely pose an immediate risk.
