The Convention on the construction of the new waste treatment plant (AEA) in the Regional Unit of Larissa, between the Region of Thessaly and the Thalis – Mediterranean – Mediterranean – P&C Development, was signed on Monday, September 22. The installation will cover waste management needs for the seven municipalities in the area. The new unit has a budget of € 54.6 million, funded by the NSRF. An additional € 45.7 million option is provided for an option, which will enable the ACE upgrade to a recycling unit (MAA), ensuring compatibility with European guidelines and objectives. The unit will have an annual management capacity of about 90,000 tonnes of waste, covering the three main currents: bio -waste, mixed and recyclable. At the same time it will produce secondary SRF fuel, which can be used energy by both the cement industry and by energy utilization units. It is worth noting that this is about 26th Waste Processing Unit entering the construction phase, with an estimated completion time in 2029. “Another waste management project, the 26th in a row, is in the process of construction. It is a great waste management project, which now fully completes the necessary infrastructure that Thessaly needs, where the Trikala units are being built today, which will serve both Karditsa and Volos. I would like to congratulate the elected elected elements of the first and second degree, as well as to the officials of the Region of Thessaly, the former Fodsa Larissa and the Municipalities, who helped get here. Greece with specific projects changes a page in waste management and is gradually transformed into a circular economy ».
