Arnold Svachenegger today visited the Vatican to support Pope Leo’s efforts to encourage world leaders to combat climate change and promote the green transition.
“Each of the 1.4 billion of the Catholics can become a crusader of the environment and help us to exterminate the pollution,” said former California governor, actor and Bondibilder, making a direct reference to the role of “exterminating”.
“God sent us to this world to put him in better shape than we inherited him,” said Schwarzenegger, who is a Catholic, born in Austria. “I am very excited that the Catholic Church and the Vatican are involved in it because we need their help,” he added.
Schwarzenegger, who is a Republican and long -standing in favor of the fight to tackle climate change, gave a press conference ahead of the three -day meeting this week at the Vatican on the subject, where he himself will speak, along with Ponifika.
The three -day conference coincides with the 10th anniversary of the publication of a major environmental document by former Pope Francis, the first to embrace the scientific consensus on climate change and urged countries to reduce carbon emissions.
Leo, the first Pope from the United States, has also emphasized the environmental teachings of the Church.
About 400 religious leaders and members of civil society will participate in this event in the Vatican. Among them are the Minister of the Environment of Brazil, the Director of the UN Coalition “Faith for the Land” and the CEO of the European Climate Foundation.
Maina Talia, the Minister of Climate Change of the touler, an island state of the Pacific, said in today’s press conference that his country is already facing dramatic consequences from rising sea levels. “Climate change is not a distant scenario. We are already drowning. Our survival depends on the urgent global solidarity, “he said.
