Citizens who are holders of Finger Permits have the possibility from today to issue via of gov.gr the new special badge for free circulation within the Ring of Athens for the period 2025 – 2026. In addition, they can add the badge to their Gov.gr Wallet digital wallet on their mobile phone, facilitating its quick and immediate display.
Citizens can issue the new badge either through gov.gr in the “Citizen and everyday life” section and the “Transportation” sub-section, or directly through daktylios.gov.gr by entering the vehicle’s registration number and the owner’s tax identification number. The badge has a unique verification code and the advanced electronic seal of gov.gr, which allows it to be easily sent electronically or printed. The authenticity of the mark can be quickly confirmed through the document verification application at docs.gov.gr/validate.
It is emphasized that the signal it can issued for vehicles belonging to one of the categories below:
- Purely electric by construction
- Made of natural gas or LPG
- Factory hybrid electric
- Euro 6 class and at the same time with CO2 emissions below 120 g/km. (for vehicles registered before 2021) or below 145 g/km. (for vehicles registered from 2021 onwards).
It is clarified that ring permits of the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 periods are automatically renewed for 2025-2026, without the need for a new application. However, citizens should renew the digital license issued through gov.gr or stored in Gov.gr Wallet.
The service was designed and developed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance and the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EDYTE SA – GRNET) of the Ministry of Digital Governance. The vehicle data is obtained through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
The power of the ring of Athens is determined in annual base. At the present time, the validity begins on October 20, 2025 and ends on July 24, 2026. The days and times of application are:
- Monday to Thursday from 07:00 to 20:00
- Friday from 07:00 to 15:00.
