“On his initiative Army General Staffa key step, a leap, is being implemented in the transition of the Armed Forces of our country to the new era. We have a factory for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, category I and First Person View (FPV), but also larger category I drones, and also here we have developed two prototype portable drone production stations, which will be shown for the first time at the parade on October 28 in Thessaloniki.”
This was emphasized by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendiaswho, accompanied by the head of the GES, Lt. General Georgios Kostidis, visited today, Wednesday, October 22, the 306 Telecommunications Base Factory (306 EBT), in Acharnes.

In particular, for the two prototype mobile stations he explained that “they are built to follow our large units”.
“That is, to be able to produce FPV drones in the field” he added.
Speaking about the 306th Telecommunications Base Plant, he called it “a key pillar of support for our nation’s Armed Forces.”
And he continued: “We have already developed in this factory, the ability to produce more than 1,000 drones a year. And this in a very short period of time, in collaboration with the Innovation Directorate, KETAK, the Center for Research, Technological Development and Innovation of the Armed Forces and ELKAK (Hellenic Center for Defense Innovation)”.
“It is”, he explained, “a new concept, which not only saves resources, but changes the mentality of buying advanced technology products off the shelf”. Not only are drones produced here, drone software is also produced and developed here.”
This factory, he said, is “the living proof of the transition of the Armed Forces of our country to the new era. The actual tangible implementation of the “Agenda 2030″. And I feel the obligation to congratulate the chief of the General Staff of the Army, but also all the executives who are and work here.”
“Greece here is in the 21st century and in fact with very fast steps. We will continue this transition, because our country is a country under threat. And the hope to be able to prevent threats over time is to develop our own Greek capabilities. Greek capabilities, Greek minds, Greek hands, Greek Armed Forces,” he clarified.
During his visit, Mr. Dendias toured the facilities of the development laboratories and operational training simulators of the Drones Production Factory, where he was informed by the commander of the ASDYS Major General Antonios Theodosiadis, about the mission of the 306 EBT, as well as about the technological researches and how they are connected with the Directorate of Innovation, the Center for Research, Technology Development and Innovation (KETAK) and the Hellenic Defense Innovation Center (ELKAK).
Subsequently, the Minister of National Defense received from the commander of the 306 EBT, colonel (TX) Efstathios Botsi, a commemorative gift for his visit, a copy of a quadcopter drone, manufactured by the factory.
After the presentation of the souvenir, Mr. Dendias said: “I will ask the Prime Minister of the country to come and see what we are making here. I think he will also feel very proud of what has been achieved in a very short period of time, a period of months by you and your partners, the officers of the Armed Forces.”
“Thank you very much and I will keep this. It is a sample of jumping. It’s not just evidence of a fabrication,” he concluded.
In a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, it is pointed out that the 306 EBT until a few months ago had, as an additional mission, the maintenance of civilian drones.
At the initiative of the GES, this Department was upgraded and became a line of development, production of software, drones, drone flight simulators, as well as their maintenance.
It has the ability to produce quadcopters as well as fixed-wing drones. These drones can undertake surveillance and observation, cargo drop and “kamikaze” missions.
In addition, as underlined in a statement by the Ministry of National Defense, the GES has two mobile units in which all the above operations are carried out near the fields of operations.
Finally, the 306 EBT has contributed to the upgrade of the M1117, which will be paraded on October 28 in Thessaloniki, as it has installed an electro-optical sensor and a drone on the vehicle which cooperates with the vehicle in reconnaissance and surveillance missions.
