Situation in Ukraine at the heart of the GEETHA chief’s communication with his American counterpart

Telephone communication with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark A. Miley had, today, Wednesday, April 6, the head of GEETHA, General Konstantinos Floros.

As announced by GEETHA, issues of mutual interest were discussed during the telephone communication, with particular emphasis on the situation in Ukraineas well as consequences of the Russian invasion of security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.

Reference was made to the measures taken by NATO to strengthen its eastern wing, as well as to increase the readiness of its forces, in order to strengthen the alliance and the deterrent capacity of the alliance.

Also discussed were: prospect of deepening the military cooperation between Greece and the USA, the further increase of the frequency and duration of joint actions between the Armed Forces of the two countries, as well as the prospect of further strengthening of the Greek Armed Forces from the US defense stockpiles, but also the possible financier their modernization using “Foreign Military Financing” funds.

Finally, the joint effort of the two countries to maintain and promote security and stability in the wider region, to which their Armed Forces contribute, was confirmed by conducting bilateral, multilateral and allied operational training actions.
