A large quantity of narcotics was seized by the police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Ioannina Sub-Directorate for Prosecution and Crime Investigation, in collaboration with the Konitsa Police Department, the day before yesterday, Saturday October 25, late at night on the old Ioannina-Kozani highway, a few kilometers after Konitsa.
In particular, in the context of ongoing police checks, a car driver noticed the police presence and in order to avoid the check, made a U-turn on the spot and speeded up to escape. While trying to escape, he lost control of the vehicle, as a result of which it deviated from its course and stopped. The driver then fled on foot, taking advantage of the darkness and the wooded area.
During the search of the car, which had German license plates, 125 packages of raw cannabis, with a total weight of 193 kg and 212 grams, were found and confiscated.
The vehicle was confiscated, while the investigations of the Narcotics Prosecution Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department of the General Regional Police Directorate of Epirus, to identify the driver, are ongoing.
