Tension prevailed today at noon in the center of Athens during a march carried out by individuals from various organizations and groups.
According to the relevant announcement of EL. AS. The tension started when the gathered people started their march from the Propylaea to Syntagma Square, occupying the entire roadway of Panepistimiou Street. The head of the police force and the police ombudsman then asked the gathered to use two traffic lanes so that the traffic would not be stopped.
According to EL. AS. the concentrated refused to comply with police’s appeals and repeatedly attacked police forces with sticks.
Despite the attacks, as noted in the announcement, the police forces made every effort to demarcate the route, thus ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles.
