Police officers of the Security Department of Nea Ionia arrested, as part of the spontaneous process, on Holy Thursday, a 62-year-old for persistent theft and violation of weapons law.
The police, in the context of the investigation of a case of theft in a store in the area of Nea Ionia, and after a methodical investigation and a coordinated operation, located and arrested the 62-year-old in the area of Kypseli.
According to the investigation, the 62-year-old, at least since July 2021, has been systematically committing thefts from shops of various kinds in various areas of Attica.
The accused he was driving his business car, looking for the prospective stores, which then, when the conditions were right, broke into the window of their main entrance, using burglary tools. After entering them, he withdrew money from cash registers and electronic devices.
As ELAS points out in the relevant announcement, A characteristic of the 62-year-old’s criminal activity was that in some cases, he searched inside the shops and removed car keys and remote controls from a garage, in order to locate the vehicles, which were probably parked near the stores and after searching their interior, to commit theft.
From the investigations carried out both in the business car, which was confiscated as a means of committing criminal acts, and in the house of the accused, were found and confiscated, among others:
– 2 knives with cases
– burglar tools (2 screwdrivers and a chisel),
– hood “full face”)
– gloves,
number of car keys and different types and
– a multitude of jewelry and glasses.
From the pre-investigation investigation of the Security Department of Nea Ionia, 13 thefts were detected in stores committed by the 62-year-old, while the investigation for the identification of other thefts continues.
The arrested person was taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor.
