Via gov.gr the complaints in the Cybercrime Prosecution

The ability to digitally file a complaint for cybercrime from today, after the signing of a joint decision of the Ministers of Civil Protection Taki Theodorikakou and Territory and Digital Governance Kyriakou Pierrakaki.

The complaint is made through the digital portal of the Public Administration gov.gr, in the section “Citizen and everyday life” and the subsection “Complaints”.

In particular, the citizen will be able to submit electronically his complaint to the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate of the Hellenic Police, for

• offenses committed against minors via the internet

• illegal access to a computer

• illegal trafficking of audiovisual works via the internet

• violation of the confidentiality of electronic and telephone communications

• cases of computer fraud

• financial cybercrime involving electronic / digital currencies

After the completion of the processing, the citizen is informed by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate of the Greek Police for any next steps. It is worth noting that in 2021 about 7,500 complaints were submitted to the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate and within the first four months of 2022 3,000 complaints have already been submitted. With the operation of the new platform, citizens will save an equal number of physical visits.

The platform uses the electronic services of the Interoperability Center and the Electronic Boxes of gov.gr that have been assigned to the Greek Police Services, thus achieving the elimination of the requirement for physical presence of the citizen.

The service was designed and developed by the Hellenic Police, the General Secretariat for Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures and the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA – GRNET), with the support of applications of the General Secretariat of Public Information Systems.
