The Board of Directors of the EKAB Association calls for an emergency work stoppage today, Monday 07:00 to 11:00, and a protest in the Piraeus Courts on the occasion of a physical attack on a crew of EKAB Athens during the provision of first aid in an incident on Sunday afternoon.

According to a relevant announcement, the attack resulted in the serious injury of a Rescuer.

The Association took legal action against the perpetrator who will be transferred this morning to the Courts of Piraeus

The Association speaks of ongoing attacks, provocations and threats and calls on the state to take the necessary immediate measures to protect the safety of EKAB crews.

The announcement in detail

On the occasion of the new unprovoked physical attack that was received by the crew of E.K.A.B. Athens during the provision of first aid in an incident on Sunday afternoon (15/05/2022), which attack resulted in the serious injury of a Rescuer, the Board of Directors of the Association, once again denounces such unacceptable behavior and gave order to the Legal Adviser of our Association to take legal action against the perpetrator.
This attack is added to the ongoing attacks, provocations and threats against EKAB colleagues. We are known to be victims of unprovoked attacks while performing our duties. For this reason the union has taken all legal actions to prevent them.
We demand once again that the necessary immediate measures be taken to protect our security. We ask:
• To give the appropriate orders-instructions from the state for the prevention and deterrence of such incidents.
• Immediately implement the proposal of legislative measures for the prevention of violence against EKAB employees (Rescuers and Doctors) during the exercise of their duties.
• Strict penalties for those who take similar action against our colleagues.

On Monday, May 16, 2022, we call an emergency Workstation 07:00 to 11:00 and a protest in the Courts of Piraeus, where the perpetrator of the attack will be transferred for the spontaneous procedure.
