Agrinio: 9 students sentenced for squatting in school – Reactions from parents, teachers and the local community

The nine students of the 1st High School of Agrinio were found guilty by the Single-Member Juvenile Court, who on the morning of May 16, 2022, sat in the seat of the accused on the charge of disorderly conduct once and for all.

According to Agriniotimes, the students were accused, following a report by the School Principal about the squatting that took place at the School in October 2020, while the Association of Parents and Guardians also supported the report.

Specifically, the report states that the School was occupied for one teaching hour on the first day, and for the next school day, without any material damage or damage within the School Complex.

Early in the morning, outside the Courthouse of Agrinio, a crowd had gathered, classmates of the accused children, parents, and teachers in an effort to strongly support them, while the trial ended shortly after 15.30 at noon.

All nine students were convicted, with the sentence of reprimand and Exercising their Custody for one year by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

It is noted that this is the first time that students are referred to a trial for participation in a school occupation in the Juvenile Court of Agrinio, while the case had provoked various reactions in the local community, with B ‘ELME Etoloakarnania condemning the criminal prosecution of students and the School to insist on the decision – its reference.
