ARSIS reports hooded attack on hostel with unaccompanied minor refugees

According to an announcement by ARSIS, “it all started when eight young people found and unnecessarily chased a group of six unaccompanied children, who were sitting in a square near the 3rd Primary School of Perea, next to the hostel”.

“They caught and hit a 16-year-old boy from Pakistan on the head with a stick and then punched him in the face and stole his mobile phone. The child was saved thanks to the intervention of two passing men, who defended the refugee child and the attackers fled “.

According to the announcement, after the incident, about 30 to 40 young people gathered and arrived outside the hostel in an aggressive mood, throwing stones, concrete blocks and logs. ARSIS employees secured the structure to protect the children inside and the attack ended with the intervention of the neighbors who came out on the balconies and started shouting and then the attackers fled.

When the police arrived at the scene after calls from employees of the structure and neighbors, an ex-officio prosecution was carried out against strangers while the injured minor was examined by a medical examiner, whose result is expected.

ARSIS denounces the needless attack and points out the catalytic intervention of residents of Perea, who have embraced the hostel.

It is noted that the specific structure of ARSIS operates in Perea, since April 5 and hosts 25 unaccompanied minor refugees, within the project “METOIKOS” of the Asylum Fund, which is part of the Cash Development Program of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum25, EPA 20.
