Following a relevant Order of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office, the identity data and photos of two (2) foreigners, accused of being members of a gang that committed burglaries-thefts from houses in the center of Athens and who were arrested on 10-5-2022, are made public. by police officers of the Property Crimes Department of the Attica Security Directorate.

The specific disclosure, according to the relevant Prosecutorial Order, aims at the protection of society as a whole, at the easier realization of the State’s claim for the inferno of the above crimes as well as at the investigation of their participation in other criminal acts.

In this context, citizens are requested to contact the telephone numbers 210-6476201 of the Department of Property Crimes and 210-6411111 of the Attica Security Directorate, to provide any relevant information. It is noted that the anonymity and confidentiality of communication is ensured.

It is pointed out that the specific disclosure lasts until 16-11-2022, according to the Prosecutorial Order. Beyond this time limit, the maintenance and / or reproduction of the publication of the above data is not allowed and is against the law.

They were arrestednoon hours of 10-5-2022, as part of a coordinated operation in the area of ​​Agios Panteleimon, two members of Georgian origin.

The investigation so far shows that the members of the criminal group have committed 4 burglaries in houses in the area of ​​the center of Athens, with the financial benefit obtained by the gang to exceeds 440,000 euros.

A case was filed against them, for the occasional offenses of the gang that commits distinguished thefts, disobedience and violation of the legislation on weapons and drugs.

How they acted

The investigation of the Department of Property Crimes revealed that the above arrested, at least since December 2021, had formed a gang with a solid structure and distinct roles that committed burglary-theft in homes in the center of Athens.

To reach the target houses, they used cars with specially designed hiding places, to hide burglary tools and loot.

During the commission of the thefts, but also in general in their movements, they were very careful and took all the precautionary measures (counter-surveillance) that would prevent their arrest. For their communications, they used mobile phones and SIM cards, registered in the names of non-existent foreigners.

At the same time, the objects they removed from the houses were channeled to various pawnshops in the center of Athens.

What was found in the investigations

In their possession and from the searches in houses were found and confiscated, among others:

• pistol with cartridge containing 7 rounds and 6 rounds
• a multitude of jewelry, jewelry and watches
• 4 laptops
• number of computer peripherals
• number of mobile phones and SIM cards
• number of passports and registration entries in different names,
• a number of burglary tools
• a multitude of branded clothes and perfumes
• number of keys of different types • metal folding knife and sword
• the sums of 155 euros, 250,000 Turkish pounds, 249 US dollars and -1- gold pounds.
• small amount of cannabis
• high accuracy weight scale

In addition, in the context of the aforementioned home surveys, 2 foreigners were arrested, accused of – as the case may be – violations of the legislation on foreigners, weapons and forgery.

The arrested were taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor, while the investigation for the full verification of the scope of their criminal activity continues.
